The postal covers listed here, were chosen because of who sent them, or to whom they were sent. Some of the envelopes have great artwork. All of them have local historical significance. They are grouped alphabetically by towns (although, I have kept the Shadeland and Springboro envelopes together). The Meadville, Pa. postal covers are shown on the Meadville Postal Covers Page.

This envelope is postmarked CENTRE (misspelled) ROAD STATION PA. AUG 18 (circa. 1880s). Center Road Station Post Office was north of Linesville, Pa.

This envelope has a Saegertown address with a Chicago cancellation. It is postmarked on the back: Saegerstown Jan. 14, 1888.

Sent to the Saegertown Post Master, asking him to see that it gets handed to an appropriate person. Postmarked May 24, 1894.

Sent to the Mook Brothers, Saegertown, Pa., 1899. The Mook brothers were harness makers with their business on Main Street, Saegertown, Pa., and Absalom Mook was Saegertown’s first postmaster.

The business card and envelope are both from the Hotel Grace, R.E. Grace, Proprietor, Saegertown, Pa. The envelope was sent to Mr. Wm. S. Grace, Meadville, Pa. Postmarked Erie, Pa. Jul. 7, 1915.

This envelope was from W. P. Benner Hardware Co., Saegertown, Pa. Featuring Garland Stoves and Ranges. Postmarked April 12, 1914.

Springboro and Shadeland (The Powell Brothers used the Springboro Post Office, before they opened the Shadeland Post Office.)

This envelope has a Bible quote, in the area which is usually reserved for the return address. Postmarked, Shadeland, Pa., Dec. 12, 1905.

This fancy envelope, with the state seal, was sent to Will B Powell Esq Shadeland P O Pa., from the Board of Agriculture, Harrisburg, Pa, Postmarked Jan. 30, 1895.

This envelope was sent to Mr. W. G. Powell, Spring Boro, Pa. It has a Meadville postmark August 7, 1885.

This envelope to the Powell Bros., has a lot going on. It has a St. Joseph & Minco. RPO. Minco was in the Indian Territory. The business return address is Wichita, KS. It has the Shadeland postal cancellation mark on the back, received Jan. 20, 1891.

Sugar Creek P.O., Crawford County (Should be Sugar Lake P.O.)

This folded letter from Allegheny, Pa., has a date of May 18, 1841. It folds out to a 3 1/2 page letter and mentions Colonel Cochran, one of the founders of Cochranton, Pa.
