The postal covers listed here, were chosen because of who sent them, or to whom they were sent. Some of the envelopes have great artwork. All of them have local historical significance. They are grouped alphabetically by towns (although, I have kept the Shadeland and Springboro envelopes together). The Meadville, Pa. postal covers are shown on the Meadville Postal Covers Page.

This envelope is from: THE HURLBURT in connection with HURLBURT’S MINERAL SPRINGS Cambridge Springs, Pa. Postmarked Feb. 14, 1908.

This envelope is postmarked CENTRE (misspelled) ROAD STATION PA. AUG 18 (circa. 1880s). Center Road Station Post Office was north of Linesville, Pa.

Here is an envelope that has the S. Post & Son return address and is over-stamped C.B. POST Successor. Centerville, Pa. circa. 1886.

Cooper Tract

This envelope was sent to Cooper Tract, Forest County, Pa., which was an oilfield post office. Postmarked (on the back) February 22, 1887.

Greenville

Professionally printed postal stationary. From Packard & Co. Greenville, Mercer Co., Pa. Postmarked Aug. 6, 1883. Sent to Saegertown, Pa.

Linesville

This envelope to the Powell Bros., has a lot going on. It has a St. Joseph & Minco. RPO. Minco was in the Indian Territory. The business return address is Wichita, KS. It has the Shadeland postal cancellation mark on the back, received Jan. 20, 1891.

Sugar Creek P.O., Crawford County (Should be Sugar Lake P.O.)

This folded letter from Allegheny, Pa., has a date of May 18, 1841. It folds out to a 3 1/2 page letter and mentions Colonel Cochran, one of the founders of Cochranton, Pa.

Titusville

This First Day of Issue envelope, with the 1859-1959 Petroleum Industry stamp, is postmarked Titusville, Pa. Aug. 27, 1959.
This envelope has an August 27, 1959 postmark. It was issued to celebrate the Centennial of Oil in Titusville, Pa.

Townville
